  • Members of the firm were two of three trial attorneys in a case resulting in an approximate $6.2 million verdict for medical malpractice concerning a young boy with cerebral palsy resulting from an injury at birth. This remains the largest verdict on record in Buncombe County and the surrounding mountain counties of Western North Carolina in a single plaintiff medical malpractice or other personal injury case.
  • Lead counsel for four of six plaintiffs in litigation concerning contractual royalty rights to inventions made by the clients. The defendant settled for over $23 million, one of the largest settlements in North Carolina history.
  • Recovered a confidential $2.5 million settlement for a brain injured client.
  • Obtained collectible verdict for $2.5 million in motor vehicle collision.
  • Recovered a $975,000 settlement against a trucking company on behalf of an individual injured in a truck wreck.
  • Obtained a confidential settlement in excess of $700,000 for a wrongful death caused by a truck driver.
  • Obtained a confidential recovery of $1.1 million for negligent infliction of emotional distress arising out of medical malpractice.
  • Successfully defended Buncombe County Sheriff in wrongful termination lawsuit by former employee at trial after obtaining a reversal of trial court by North Carolina Supreme Court.
  • Successfully represented plaintiff who suffered damages as a result of breach of real estate contract by opposing party resulting in loss of 1031 exchange, with concomitant damages.
  • Represented an architect in defeating claims of professional negligence in a multi-million dollar commercial mold remediation case.
  • Obtained and collected a judgement in excess of $60,000 in a land condemnation of approximately .4 acres where the government/ condemnor's initial deposit was $1,000.
  • Recovered a $375,000 settlement against Haywood County for a wrongful death caused by a county employee operating a dump truck at the landfill.
  • Obtained a confidential $375,000 settlement against a doctor and hospital for a patient injured by a pain block spinal injection.
  • Represented plaintiffs in Cherokee Tribal Court action for breach of lease and constructive eviction, resulting in collectible judgment in excess of $200,000.
  • Obtained a substantial verdict and settlement against an automobile manufacturer for individuals injured by vehicle defects.
  • Obtained favorable recovery for the children of an individual who died in a fire in a rental unit lacking operable smoke detectors.
